ode to my crappy apartment

There’s a constant slight breeze coming from under the doors
Letting in earwigs and beetles and potato bugs on the floors
The windows aren’t sealed and let in the dust
Our yellow stove is old with spots of rust
The furnace makes a noise that can scare a grown man
There is someone across the street looking shady in a van
A swamp cooler sucks blowing warm moist air
But ours is the worst, dripping water all year
Our 1986 linoleum floor is warped and uneven
Better watch your step, it can be deceiving
From a mystery vent in the bathroom comes bird noises and water drops
And when you go number 2 – the water always stops
We actually own a professional plumbers snake
And use it quite regularly for GOODNESS SAKE
Laundry is done in the kitchen you see
You could easily kick in the door with just your knee
Pretty sure I’ve seen the neighbors doing meth & pot
Classy? Our cul-de-sac? It is not.
Don’t get me wrong, I’m happy for a place to stay
But please, let us know, if something comes your way!!!!!!!!!!

day 25 - wrapping up

Yeah, I am going to sum this baby up - I'm sick of it. The next few days were supposed to be 'your day in great detail', 'your week in great detail', 'your month in great detail', 'your year in great detail', 'hopes dreams & plans for the next year', and a what ever you want post. This is my version of that:

Today, I pretty much went to work, got pizza with hubby-o, went to my moms to set up her new iPod, and am now home.

Times that, in general, by 7, and that is my past week.

The only thing 'different' about this month is that I got promoted to a supervisor at work. Am pretty excited about it, but other than that, normal.

This past year, I was pretty much prego the whole time between the miscarriage + Max. So that = hormones, fat, new, fat, cry, cry, fat, love Max, happy, tired.

In the next year, my number one goal is to get out of this dingy apartment!!!!! Hate!! I want to hopefully buy a house this year. I also hope to get some debt paid off, and of course, raise little Maxi-poo.

I've got something in my eye - I gotta go.

day 24 - whatever + day 16 re-do

what tickles my fancy this week is this: I saw a freaking full on article once on "how to fold a fitted sheet" which I think is absolutely obnoxious. It makes it even more pathetic that it is Martha Stewart. Don't worry - if you didn't get it from the article, there is a step-by-step video from YouTube, too.

Here is my version:

My hell.

So, on day 16, when it asked ('it'??) a song that makes you cry - I don't know why I put the one I did. It was the first thing that came to my mind. But I heard this song the other day and for real almost did cry. I don't know if it is the tune or the words or what but it can change my mood so fast. My dad said one time that he wants it played at his funeral and that makes me sick. Anyway, here it is, 'Remember When' by Alan Jackson

I came across this the other day and it was just what I needed to hear :)

day 22 - a website

This may or may not be kind of creepy - but there are a few blogs a look at now and then of people I don't know. I stumbled across them one day and thought they were funny, so I check 'em every once in a while:

http://utahtib.blogspot.com/
http://littlemissmomma.blogspot.com/
http://1895house.blogspot.com/
http://missesbojangles.blogspot.com/

some other sites I frequent are:

http://www.google.com/ for everything!!
http://www.laughitout.com/ for jokes
http://www.theonion.com/ for freaking funny news stuff
http://www.ksl.com/ for real news + looking at the classifieds every 2 hours for a freaking NEW apartment
http://www.bored.com/ if I'm bored
and of course http://www.facebook.com/

along with the boring ones, banks, work stuff, insurance companies, etc.

day 21 - a recipe

This one is easy - I only cook 2 things really; Hot Dog casserole, & Sour Cream Enchaladas. I'm sure some of you threw up in your mouth after reading 'Hot Dog Casserole', thus I will share the Sour Cream Enchaladas:

1 24 oz tub sour cream
2 cans cream of chicken soup
1 can diced green chilis
1 large can chicken

Mix together, spread in tortilla, sprinkle cheese & roll, put in a 9x12 pan
(makes about a bakers dozen)
spread remaining mixture on top of rolled tortillas, sprinkle cheese & SeasonAll
Bake uncovered at 350 for 20 minutes

day 20 - take two

Duh, while I was sulking to Benj that I don't have any hobbies - he brought to my attention that clearly, my hobby is BLOGGING. He is a genius. Blogging - that's it.

day 20 - a hobby

Man, this thing is draggin on, isn't it? Well, I obviously should have done the cards as a hobby instead of yesterday.... So I looked up the definition of hobby:

hob·by
An activity or interest pursued outside one's regular occupation and engaged in primarily for pleasure.
And honestly, the ONLY thing I ever want to do in my spare time, is sleep. So, thats it I guess, my hobby, is sleeping. Exciting I know.

day 19 - a talent

I don't know if I'd say it's a 'talent' persay, but I do like to make hand-made cards. These aren't necessarily my best work, just ones I happen to have around. They for sure aren't my best pictures - bad lighting - sorry! I was in a card club for a few years, so we'd make 12 of the same card then get together and swap so I'd have 12 different cards - which is why I don't have a ton of the ones I've made. Anyway....

AND.... since this is a journal of sorts, I need to document that Max rolled over for the first time on June 29, from tummy to back, at 5 months and about a week old. He has done it a few more times too. Getting soo big! And he has also been standing a ton more, he loves it - he thinks for sure he is like 4 years old.

day 18 - whatever tickles my fancy

So first of all, yesterday's post was just posted today... FYI. Anyway, I was thinking, and have been for a while, that wouldn't it be freaking soooooo cool if a dumb stinky mosquito
landed on a huge zit and sucked out all the puss and freaking died from the infection?
You wouldn't get a bite, the pesky mosquito is gone, and the infection is out of your zit. Awesome.
Just a thought.

day 17 - decorating ideas I like

Wow - I full on have anxiety about this post - that is why it is a day late. I could go on and on about ideas and things I like - and hate. The first 4 are from my house, the rest are just ideas I like. re-finished furniture - balls
old windows

sticks

love this vase thing - don't talk to me about the deer

using old windows (NOT the rabbit)

old things

love love this all (except the cross)

Like to refinish old furniture

Love the cabinet thing, picture, and blinds. Deer head, not so much

old barnwood table

like the hutch, valance, shutters, and green wall color

brick flooring

brick flooring

I'm like really flustered about this for some reason. I feel like I can't adequately portray what I'm thinking and I'm intimidated because I know a lot of people who look at my blog are dang good decorators! One of my top 3 fav TV channels is HGTV; I love all the 'before and after' shows. Aghh. Screw it, I'm taking an ativan and going to bed.

day 16 - a song that makes you cry

This song reminds me of my 'first love', my first real boyfriend back in the day & it just brings back all the emotions and craziness of that time. After we broke up, for a long long time, years maybe (until I met Benj!), I couldn't hear this without going into a deep depression, ending up in the fetal position on my bed for days.

day 15 - favorite comedian

Clearly, Jack Handy is a favorite. Jerry Seinfeld is classic. It was pretty much mandatory that we watch Seinfeld every night at 6:30 p.m. growing up. In fact, we have been to see him live as a family. The first words out of his mouth were "What the hell is going on?" It struck me soooo funny I couldn't stop laughing = could not breathe = had to get up and walk out. Love. Ron White is also classic. A little vulgar sometimes, but sometimes that makes it even more funny.
Some other favorites lately are:

Jim Gaffigan (you have to be in the mood, but if you are, it is awesome):

Brian Regan:

Dane Cook (can be pretty dirty, but this one is clean):

Ahh, I am laughing so hard right now! Love it!

day 14 - a non fictional book

Again, have we not already addressed what books I like? Honestly.

Here are some pictures from the day. For family night, we went and set up freaking tents at girls camp. This is Max & his aunt Domonique.

(notice the "Duck Duck Moose" shirt from G&G Ekins last summer in Yellowstone)

We went boating this morning - Benj & the binki
Let me explain. G&G Barnhurst got him a really cool life jacket but it didn't work so now he is wearing this cool duckie one. We couldn't find a hat for him this morning so.....we wended up with a visor from Target with a hankerchief under it - he looked preeeety cool.

Like I said, he does not like the sun (he gets it from me...) but other than that he did great! Slept most of the time. I dunked him in though and he freaking hated it.
